Lord Shiva (also known as Mahadev / The Great God) is one of the principal deities of Vedic culture. He is the supreme being within Shivaism, one of the major traditions within contemporary vedic tradition. Lord Shiva is known as “The Destroyer” within the Trimurti, Vedic trinity that includes also Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu. In Shivaism tradition, Shiva is one of the supreme beings who creates, protects and transforms the universe. Lord Shiva / Nataraja conveys Vedic conception of the never-ending cycle of time.
