Anna Roberts: “Making Travel Easier For Canadians, it’s time to end the mandatory use of the ArriveCAN application.”
Canada has one of the world’s highest vaccination rates and every province across Canada has lifted or has lifted or has a plan to life vaccine mandates. Despite that, international travel for Canadians continues to be impeded.
After two years of lockdowns and travel restrictions, Canadians are ready to travel again, and Canada’s elite tourism industry is ready to host guests from all over the world. However, the ArriveCAN app continues to be a major impediment to travel.
From its launch, Conservatives have raised concerns about the app’s privacy infringement, contact tracing, and poor user interface. No consideration has been given for seniors who have struggled to upload documents, or to travelers who have crossed a land border with no internet connection. Others have been forced into an unnecessary, 14-day quarantine.
The Liberals continue to ignore the flaws, glitches, and inconvenience of the app. ArriveCAN provides little health benefit but causes continual chaos at the borders. As summer travel ramps up, these problems will only get worse.
It’s time the Liberals end the mandatory use of the ArriveCAN app. Canadians can count on Conservatives to push for greater flexibility, and fight for an end to COVID-19 mandates and restrictions.
